Big announcement at AGM

Our 2024 AGM, held on Sunday 28 April, was marked by the big announcement that Better Public Media Trust now has a patron.

"We are delighted to announce that Sir Anand Satyanand, GNZM, QSO, KStJ and former Governor General has joined the BPM as patron for the next three years," BPM Chair Peter Thompson said.

Sir Anand said he took up the role for three reasons.

“One, I’ve had a long-term interest in civics and civics education and I think, keenly, both of those underpin our democracy. Secondly, I’ve had a lot of time working for the advancement of civil society, which drives these things. And I’ve worked with the Common wealth and I’m the patron of the New Zealand Institute of Internation Affairs. And thirdly, and not unimportantly, I’m a consumer of media over a long period.”

The BPM Trustees are looking forward to a long and rewarding relationship with Sir Anand.
